Haiti - Politic : The Gonâve, 50% of the Special Plan already achieved

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, will take advantage of the holding of the 10th edition of « Gouvènman an lakay ou » in La Gonâve, Saturday, Sept. 13, to visit the progress of the development work being done on the island as part Special development Plan, which articulates with the social solidarity program "Ede-Pèp."

The Government indicates that the majority of projects in Anse-à-Galets and Pointe-à-Raquette (the two communes of the island) are 50% completed. 3,000 families benefit regularly of solidarity voucher 2,000 others receive emergency voucher.

In addition to the school canteen, four community restaurants operate at La Gonâve to fight against food insecurity.

At the fishery, 23 boats as well as Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) are already available to fishermen's associations.

Two computer labs are located in Pointe-à-Raquette and Anse-à-Galet where all-terrain vehicles were delivered to police stations of the zones.

Furthermore, through this plan, the island of La Gonâve will have now its own construction equipment and road maintenance. It already has two ambulances, a Reading Center and Cultural Activities (CLAC) and 4 micro-retained (micro-retenues).

The Special Plan of La Gonâve, the Government Martelly/Lamothe also mobilized 60 million gourdes, 20 million for strengthening small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and 40 million for the construction of schools, roads, health, sports and cultural infrastructure.
