Haiti - Social : Special Plan and alternative energy

Following various social dialogues with the public and local elected officials of several communes across the country, the Government Martelly-Lamothe increasing its actions in the energy sector, through the Special Plans, in order to

encourage regional development, boost trade exchanges, offer a better quality of life for young students and traders, create jobs and establish a safe environment both in the urban and rural areas.

As part of these Special Plans, these interventions provide immediate results and relieve in the short-term the most urgent needs of the population. In terms of alternative energy, include : the electrification of houses in Bernagousse (Grand Anse); urban electrification to the Ile de la Gonâve (West) and Terrier Rouge (Northeast); the installation of an alternative energy system to the the police station of Terre Neuve (Artibonite) and the nstallation of solar street lights through the Special Plans, including 35 in Bernagousse 170 in Cite Soleil (West), 200 to Ile-à-Vache (South), 193 to Port-de-Paix (Northwest) and 50 to the Ile de la Gonâve (West), representing nearly 40% of the installations planned.
