Haiti - Security : Strengthening of the Border posts of Malpasse, Belladères and Ouanaminthe

As part of the Franco-Haitian cooperation in support of efforts of state entities involved in the field of border security, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) of the Ministry of Interior and Territorial Communities received a donation of materials from the Embassy of France in Haiti including : diesel generators, solar panels, batteries, detection devices for document fraud, buggy and quad (Polaris style) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11408-haiti-security-donation-from-france-for-the-protection-of-our-borders.html

According to Claude Raymond Jr., Director of the DIE, this donation is intended to cover the needs of Border post of Malpasse, Belladères and Ouanaminthe, and is the result of a project initiated in 2012 by the Embassy of France in Haiti aimed at contributing to a better coordination between the EIS, the General Administration of Customs (AGD) and the National Police of Haiti (PNH) on the one hand and their Dominicans counterparts, with the aim to lead in the long term, to the establishment of a Centre for Police and Customs Cooperation (CCPD) between the two countries that share the island.

"It is a contribution that will not fail to allow the DIE to be even more aggressive in the fight against document fraud and more effective in the supervision and security at Border posts," stressed Mr. Claude Raymond welcoming the capabilities of this project which helped lay the groundwork for a national coordination (DIE / AGD / PNH) for integrated border management.
