Many demonstrations were organized these last months to claim the departure of the members of the Provisional electoral counsel (CEP) accused of being the balance of power. These demonstrations which also aimed the resignation of René Préval.

At the time of a press briefing, Gaillot Dorsinvil, the president of the CEP stated vigorously that it did not have any intention to resign, minimizing the rumors on his possible dismissal, accusing those who have (for him) a plan to destabilize the country, saying that "only death or the return of all electoral advisers can make me leave the CEP [...] my mandate expires February 7, 2011 when I shall have to submit to the Nation the new head of state,".

The president of the CEP indicated that it did not have any explanation to give on the revocation of Jacillon Barthélémy, president of the Departmental Electoral Office of West (BED), aid off for having organized a session with a candidate Claire Lydie Parent, while the list of approved candidates was published. "It is not my responsibility and I have no authority to provide details on this measure" said Dorsinvil (Signatory of the letter revoking Mr. Barthélémy). It did not announce which had the authority to inform the population of it, in the name of the transparency.
