Thursday during a joint press conference at the Primature Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism and President of Carnival and Josette Darguste, the Acting Minister of Culture and Vice-President of Carnival affirmed "everything is ready for the National Carnival 2014 which will be held this year in Gonaives, 2.3 and 4 March 2014 under the theme "Tèt kole pou yon Ayiti pi djanm".

More than 2,500 rooms (including hotels of the Côte-des-Arcadins and guest houses) will accommodates visitors [average price of a hotel room U.S. $ 200]. Also 2 beaches, Fontaine Bleue and Phaéton, were arranged for the occasion and 30 young people will be deployed on these sites to welcome visitors.

Panels of localizations, of the main tourist sites were installed along the national road #1 for visitors. Costumes, choice of king and queens, stand construction and other facilities [all materials come from Gonaïves], musical floats, safety device nothing seems to be missing to make this 2014 edition, a large carnival.

New this year, a welcome cocktail, to which participate in the President Michel Martelly, will replace the traditional ball of queens in which will be launched the carnival festivities.

In order to highlight the many facets of Artibonite, the Carnival parade is divided in 5 sequences: "The fight for freedom", "Mysticism of Artibonite", "The splendor of the Artibonite", "The wealth of Haiti" and "Haiti, the Pearl of the Antilles".

- The legend of Lakou: Representation of Lakou (Lakou Souvenans, Lakou Badyo, Lakou Sooukri) ;

- Rejoicing (couples of dancers followed by an orchestra) ;

- Representation of all social strata of the country (doctors, lawyers, agronomists, merchants, shining boots, priests, politicians, pastors, houngans...) .
