Monday, David Basile, the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities deplored the violent incidents on February 2nd, 3rd pre-carnival Sunday in Cité Soleil who made two victims and two wounded, calling these acts of revolting and at a time when Cité Soleil has chosen the path of dialogue and social peace. He urged Justice to open an investigation to identify the perpetrators and reiterated the Government's commitment to continue to support the people of Cité Soleil.

In addition, the Minister has denied and condemned the statements of Jean Raynald Cobby, the Executive Agent of the current cartel of Cité Soleil, responsible for handling routine business, who alleges that the Minister is responsible for the situation and incidents . Remarks, that according to the Minister, may cause more tension in the solemn population. Recalling that throughout the month of January 2014, he conducted a series of negotiations with organized groups, community leaders and representatives of the various neighborhoods of Cité Soleil, which resulted in an agreement on social peace between the different parties.

The Ministry of the Interior warns against any manipulation of economic and socio-political problems of Cité Soleil, to sustain control over this town through violence and fear, and said that the Head of State is disconnected with the current Cartel which has not issued the expected results.

Following this intervention, the Minister of the Interior announced Tuesday that a new interim Municipal Commission was appointed in Cite Soleil, consisting of Esaie Beauchar, Joly Fils and Paul Joseph.
